OUR COMMUNITY (grade 3) provides a better understanding about a  variety of jobs and how they satisfy the needs of people in our community.  Through practical hands on activities, the students learn about the circular flow of money and the types of tools necessary to perform different jobs in their community.  Time Commitment: 4 one hour lessons
 
OUR COUNTRY (grade 4) explains the movement from traditional to modern  technologies.  Students identify Canadian inventors and inventions and exercise their problem solving skills while designing future technologies.  Changes in the labour  market as a result of technological advances are discovered.  Time Commitment: 4 one hour lessons
 
OUR BUSINESS WORLD (grade 5) walks students through the organization and  management of a small business.  Students develop business plans, learn about jobs within a company, produce and market products.   Time Commitment: 4 one hour lessons
 
A BUSINSS OF OUR OWN (grade 6) through the hands-on activity of operating their own retail business, students learn what a business plan is and develop and implement one of their own.  This experience illustrates the importance of team work, planning and record keeping.  Time Commitment: 5 one hour lessons
 
DOLLARS WITH SENSE (grade 7 & 8) is an interactive program  designed to encourage students to develop the financial literacy necessary to make informed decisions about their financial future.  New games and activities have been developed to make this popular program even more effective!   Time Commitment: 4 one hour lessons
 
ECONOMICS FOR SUCCESS (grade 7 & 8) is an extremely popular one day program designed to help students understand the financial impact of a   quality education and the importance of staying in school.  This updated program includes new games, activities and follow-up lessons while remaining focused on budgeting, career exploration and job search skills.   Time Commitment—1 full school day

By submitting this Program Registration Form, I understand and agree to the responsiblities of hosting a JA program.  These responsiblities are:

  1. I will welcome JA volunteer into my classroom to present the JA program for which my class is registered.
  2. I will reply to volunteer emails/phone messages in a timely manner
  3. I agree to not leave a JA volunteer unattended at anytime during the program presentation
  4. Assume full responsibility of classroom management
  5. I will attend the program information session if this is the first time hosting this JA program
  6. I will contact the JA office immediately if I cannot fulfill my registration obligations due to unforseen circumstances.
